Review

Made in India is an autobiography of singer, songwriter, music composer, even a writer now Biddu. His journey from being a dreamer to achiever has been portrayed in words well in his autobiography. How a boy from Bangalore with many dreams travels to different cities in India to try his luck in the music business. The author’s struggle & survival away from his mother in times when means of communication were very few is a thing to admire & respect.

Biddu’s whole artistic evolution can be read in this book, his early days in Bangalore to different cities in India to his quest to visit London via Beirut. His way of coping with unfavourable situations but still keeping his art alive is also commendable, also his love story is cute too. His love for disco & adding innovative & new things in songs is what helped him succeed & move forward.

The author’s life took a turn when he was approached by Feroz Khan for doing two songs for his movies, while he was a little hesitant but the confidence which the actor had in him won him over & he agreed to it & thanks to both of them we have some awesome songs like ‘Aap jaisa koi’ & a singer like Nazia Hassan. This is a good read for aspiring artists or anyone who dreams because it will make you realise that the path might not be simple nor straight but if you have the will you will achieve it!
