#CoverReveal ; Faith Of The Nine by Sachin Dev

~ Cover Reveal ~

About the Book:
The Third Yuga is slowly drawing to a close. Nam – the greatest Empire on Janani – is going to face some fierce winds of change. Seers foresee omens of death and destruction in the return of the Banished One – A God who will claim the ashes of this world as revenge. While out in the streets, rumours abound - of older forgotten powers stirring.

Caught in this maelstrom of a power struggle between Gods are three ordinary lives: General Fateh, the most celebrated soldier in Nam who starts to question his faith, Ishan – a gifted orphan who struggles to comprehend his destiny and Abhaya – a young monk in search of truths about this world. Their choices and actions will shape the destiny of this scarred world that becomes the playground for vindictive Gods.

In a world where Rakshasas arise out of left-over traces of Maaya and twilight forms the portal to countless worlds around us for Daityas and Yakshis to dance through, a God is only as powerful as those who believe. And when Gods rise, faith of men will be tested…And broken.

About the Author:
Sachin discovered Tolkien in his teens, alternative rock as a new adult and digital marketing in pretty much his late twenties. These still form a large wedge in his circle of life. Travel, radio and theatre have also figured in that ever-expanding and diminishing circle.

On perhaps a more prosaic note, he is an engineer from BITS Pilani and holds an MBA from Indian School of Business. Attribute the love for numbers and pie-charts to this. He is currently based in Bangalore and happily married to Harini. He spends an inordinately large amount of time chasing after his two dogs (who love the free life a bit too much) when he is not busy dreaming up fantasy worlds full of monsters. And beautiful Yakshis, of course.

He can usually be found ranting on twitter under the handle @xenosach, devouring books and talking about them on his blog. You can always stalk him online at his official website

#BookReview ; Life is What You Make It by Preeti Shenoy

What would you do if destiny twisted the road you took? What if it threw you to a place you did not want to go? Would you fight, would you run or would you accept? Set across two cities in India in the early eighties, 'Life is what you make it' is a gripping account of a few significant years of Ankita's life.

Ankita Sharma has the world at her feet. She is young, good-looking, smart and has tonnes of friends and boys swooning over her. College life is what every youngster dreams of and she also manages to get into a premier management school for her MBA. Six months later, she is a patient in a mental health hospital. How did Ankita get here? What were the events that led to this? Will she ever get back her life again?

Life has cruelly and coldly snatched that which meant the most to her and she must now fight to get it all back.

It is a deeply moving and inspiring account of growing up, of the power of faith and how determination and an indomitable spirit can overcome even what destiny throws at you.

A tale, at its core a love-story that makes us question our beliefs about ourselves and our concept of sanity and forces us to believe that life is truly what one makes it.

It’s clear that Preeti Shenoy wrote Life is What You Make it with a purpose to create awareness about mental health issues & profess against the taboo which is associated with it in India, for me that’s the greatest thing about it! This book isn’t just a work of fiction but has parts inspired from lives of real people. It’s a story of the struggle & self destructive feelings one has to go through which pushes them to the edge of taking their own life which can be dodged if the concerned person gets the correct help as soon as possible.

The plot is set in the early eighties, our protagonist Ankita Sharma is from a conservative family living in Cochin where her father got transferred soon after school. While Ankita’s special friend Vaibhav is away studying in IIT-D but they stay in touch through letters, they would share everything with each other through the letters which ultimately brought them even closer. But will this long distance relationship really work? On the other hand everything was going quite well for Ankita at her college St. Agnes where she even contested for an election of Arts Club Secretary & won! Since St. Agnes was a girl’s college there was no way she could meet another boy but with this new post that changed. One thing lead to another which resulted in complicated situations leading to a suicide of a boy for which Ankita tried to distance herself but secretly blamed herself.

The story is well written as to how things keep getting pressured inside the brain & when it can’t take any more of it, it leads to dangerous results & that’s why we should keep a close eye on each & every person who is close to us. This book is a good read indeed!

#BookReview ; The Second Coming by Shubha Menon

The magic of the initial years has vanished, leaving behind a hunger that she assuages with chocolate. Mini would love to change her situation, but she is over the hill, overweight and under confident. The chances of having a hot affair with a happening man are dim, if not non-existent.

An erstwhile royal scion decides to wed a Bollywood starlet and Mini is sent to Mumbai to plan the celebrations. The manager of the Mumbai office is young Rustom, the answer to Mini’s secret dreams. Goaded by impending menopause, Mini decides it’s now or never. She simply has to take a second stab at romance.

Rustom is a ladies man. He is also married, and a skirt chaser. Mini decides to shape up and get into the kind of skirts Rustom would want to chase.

Working together closely, Rustom and Mini fall into each others’ arms. Meanwhile, her husband gets wind of the affair and tries to reclaim her. Now Mini must choose between heady romance and steady matrimony.

But soon, Mini discovers that her romantic idol has feet of clay. In a dramatic end, the trusty husband stages a timely rescue. And Mini learns that a rock solid husband is worth many a dream lover.

The Second Coming is the first book of Shubha Menon & she is out with a BANG! The story is of Mini an ambitious woman who enjoys her work to organise beautiful weddings stuck in an unexciting marriage with Shyam so with what she does to fill this hole in her life? With CHOCOLATE! And we all know what it does to us, hence it had similar effects on our protagonist.
Overweight & unconfident Mini fantasizes about a DL (Dream Lover not Driving License) to come into her life & woo her so that she can have the life she desire for & the stars seem to align for her as she gets a ‘no budget’ project (You get the idea how rich they are) in Mumbai where she meets Rustom, a handsome & ladies’ man but will he be interested in her? If not then what would Mini do to reach out to her possible DL? Also will Shyam termed as Sicko Shyam do anything to get his girl back?
There are many comic phrases used which will surely get you! As far as I feel, this book does have relevance in real life too. We often take our partners for granted hence we stop making efforts to keep them or even ourselves interested in the relationship which generally doesn’t end in a good way. This book is a fun read with a hint to people in relationships, STAY ACTIVE! ;)

Only Wheat Not White
by
Varsha Dixit

The Blurb

What if the one you completely love is the one you simply can't! Twenty-six-year-old Eila Sood moves to America to mend fences with her estranged older sister, Sheela. Eila and the rest of the family in India had cut off ties with Sheela after she married Steve Jacobs, 'out of caste, and out of color'. Elia soon realizes that Sheela's marriage is on the rocks. To help pay Sheela's household bills, Eila takes a second job at an afternoon strip club. When she crosses paths with the owner, the handsome Brett Wright or 'blue-eyed ogre' as Elia calls him, he both infuriates and fascinates her. Brett turns out to be her reluctant and unquestionably sarcastic knight in shining armor. As Eila and Brett spend more time together their desire for each other builds. However, when Brett discovers the true reason for Eila's refusal he storms out of her life, accusing her of being a prejudiced coward. Will Eila find the courage to break stereotypes and embrace her love? Will Brett find solace in the arms of his ex-girlfriend Cate? Will Sheela and Steve divorce? All of these questions and more are answered in Varsha Dixit's latest and humorous and steamy love story.

I'm the author of four books and the genre that I write is contemporary romance. Penning stories defines and completes me.I thinks of myself as a borderline obsessive-compulsive dreamer who thinks deep but writes light. A true ‘feel good’ junkie seeking quick fixes, I love a good laugh and a good book. A voracious reader of who dunit mysteries and legal dramas, I did sit down to pen a book on serial killers but finding it impossible to maim or kill anyone, even on paper, I penned a romantic story instead. Thus, I found my true calling – at least for the time being.Even though creativity is gender free, I feel blessed and enriched to be a woman.
Currently, with my family, I'm settled in the US.

#BookReview ; 1st Job & 10 Mistakes by Uttam Kumar

First Job is every person’s dream. It brings financial freedom to the person concerned. One starts taking financial decisions independently. In the years of pre- liberalization, getting a Job (and that too a government Job) was a big achievement. Salaries were low and joint families were the norm. So, there used to be collective decisions and elders had a voice in financial matters.
As the markets opened up, getting jobs became easier and something taken for granted. Salaries started in lacs per year, even at the entry level and even with a simple graduate degree; especially in the financial sector (Insurance, Banks etc.). This growth caught us Indians unawares and many people, especially in smaller cities, didn’t know what to do with this new found opportunity.
With families becoming nuclear, the financial decisions are left to the person employed. So, initially most of us don’t know what to do with our salaries. One does not have any family responsibility. So people buy a Bike/Car on loan, a new Mobile, a laptop and so on….
Read the Book to know how one should Plan during these years...

1st Job & 10 Mistakes is the debut book of Uttam Kumar. The author gives us precise info about steps that one should or shouldn’t take after the person joins his first job. As he says that the first step is what matters & rest follows.

The book has 10 chapters which contain 10 most common mistakes people commit after joining their first job. It’s a must read for everyone starting their career, it will help you to save & spend meticulously. It has some interactive parts too where the reader has to fill up info accordingly which will surely help in future if taken care of honestly. In short, it shouldn’t be missed..

#BookReview & #Giveaway ; Made In India by Biddu

As a child, Biddu dreamt of going west and making it big as a composer. At the age of sixteen, he formed a band and started playing in a cafe in Bangalore, his home town, At eighteen, he was part of a popular act at Trinca's, a nightclub in Calcutta devoted to food, wine and music, At nineteen, he had college students in Bombay dancing to his music.

In his early twenties, he left the country and ended up hitchhiking across the Middle East before arriving in London with only the clothes on his back and his trusty guitar. What followed were years of hardship and struggle but also great music and gathering fame. From the nine million selling "Kung Fu Fighting" to the iconic youth anthem of "Made in India" and the numerous hits in between. Biddu's music made him a household name in India and elsewhere.
In this first public account of all that came his way: the people, the events, the music tours and companies Biddu writes with a gripping sense of humor about his remarkable journey with its fairy tale ending. Charming, witty, and entirely likable, Biddu is a man you are going to enjoy getting to know.

About The Author

Biddu was born in India, where he started his career playing in a pop band whose influences lay in the classic repertoire of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Following his early success, he decided to hear West and move into the international music arena. He struck gold, signing the unknown Carl Douglas and producing "Kung Fu Fighting?" which went on to become a hit all over the world. He also wrote and produced hits for Tina Charles and soul legend Jimmy James.

Around this time, Biddu became involved in Indian music: he composed the cult "AapJaise Koi" for the film Qurbani which set a new landmark for sales in India He followed this up with a pop album, Disco Deewane, with Nazia Hassan, which became the largest selling pop album in Asian history, and was the first Indian album to hit the charts in fourteen countries. In 1995, Biddu wrote and produced the three-million-selling album Made in India with the singer Alisha Chinai. To date, Biddu has sold over thirty-eight million records worldwide.

Review

Made in India is an autobiography of singer, songwriter, music composer, even a writer now Biddu. His journey from being a dreamer to achiever has been portrayed in words well in his autobiography. How a boy from Bangalore with many dreams travels to different cities in India to try his luck in the music business. The author’s struggle & survival away from his mother in times when means of communication were very few is a thing to admire & respect.

Biddu’s whole artistic evolution can be read in this book, his early days in Bangalore to different cities in India to his quest to visit London via Beirut. His way of coping with unfavourable situations but still keeping his art alive is also commendable, also his love story is cute too. His love for disco & adding innovative & new things in songs is what helped him succeed & move forward.

The author’s life took a turn when he was approached by Feroz Khan for doing two songs for his movies, while he was a little hesitant but the confidence which the actor had in him won him over & he agreed to it & thanks to both of them we have some awesome songs like ‘Aap jaisa koi’ & a singer like Nazia Hassan. This is a good read for aspiring artists or anyone who dreams because it will make you realise that the path might not be simple nor straight but if you have the will you will achieve it!
